These new base oils have extreme high Viscosity Indices (VI) and extremely low elastohydrodynamic shear strengths (or coefficients of traction) over a wide range of conditions. In fact, they have the lowest coefficients of traction ever reported. These two major features make these base oils suitable for blending lubricating fluids with excellent film thickness protection across a wide temperature range and for blending lubricating fluids with unprecedented energy efficiency.
